Well a long time ago it pretty much was. When I grew up the internet just started. It was pretty much just search engines, and the main “Social Network” back then was AOL (America Online) and AIM (AOL Instant Messenger.) While now in 2017 that is a crazy thought to think, but it’s true, the internet wasn’t much at all like it is today. Alot of that has to do with Mobile phones.
Back in the mid to late 90’s all you pretty much has was a big desktop computer. Usually one per household. So, internet use was limited. Not to mention we had crappy dial up modems that would take forever to connect. Along with pictures which took an average of 1 minute in the early 90s and then around 30 seconds or so in the late 90s early 2000’s.
Which brings me to my post was all about. Imagine a world with no Facebook, no Twitter, no Instagram? The only thing you use is just Google and the sites they tell you to. Such as Wikipedia, Stack Overflow(A programming website), Yahoo Answers and Quora. To make it worse, you’re not allowed to go on your phone to access the internet.
- What would you do?
- Would you still be on the internet just as often (Taking out the fact you have to work or go to school).?
- Would you abandon the internet all together?
- Would you learn to program and try to create a Social Network?
What would you do if the world was just restricted to Google and information websites?

If this post made you think and you thought “I don’t know what I would do” or “I don’t ever want that to happen”. In my opinion, you’re spending to much time on the internet. Get out in the real world, and when you’re out, turn off your phone to enjoy the moment with the people you spend time with.
